Belong (2010) acrylic & thread on canvas – 101 x 171 cm
This painting was exhibited inside the Chinese museum. The aim was further investigate the humans and animals, through the use of large-scale canvas to examine the individual’s relationship with themselves and others. This story is about my personal experience in Australia hence the use of a Kangaroo, a symbolic animal from Australia. This distorted figures and incorrect propositions and perspective are used to represent the girl’s naiveness. The girl inside the kangaroo’s belly represents women and their emotions. This painting aims to experiment with secondary color and softness of color attach to a large scale. Perspective, narrative, decoration, patterning and humor were again explored.

The Girl Holding a Pig  (2010) acrylic on canvas –  42 cm x 60 cm
A figurative imagery work inspired by 2009′s Swine Flu epidemic disease. I painted a happy and healthy Chinese girl holding a pig and wearing a full-face yellow stitched mask on her face as a way to satirise people’s reaction towards the disease. This paint shows traditional Chinese clothes with a bright and powerful colour in order to give more positive outlook of the real situation. However, the texture and surface of the painting need more development.

Kayan Girl (2010) acrylic, paint glitter, fabric, & thread on round canvas – 60 cm x 42 cm
Kayan Girl, is another early paint inspired by a magazine article reporting on a human exhibition done in northern Thailand. The article story was about women of the Kayan tribe (Burma) and how they are used as objects to improve tourism rates. According to the article, these women have to wear metal coils on their necks. The weight of the coil will bring down the structure of the collarbone and compressed the rib cage elongating the neck, hence their nickname: Giraffe women.
